These synthetic polymers can be formulated into virtually everything and most people do not realize how much of there lives are effected by this science. Polymer technology is really an overly generalization to do with combining different chemicals to create bonds that can be used in virtually every industry. When applied to car paint protective products like sealants, it looks just as any other liquid car wax product would look like. When formulated into a paste product, it looks as any other car paste wax product would look.

Can anyone apply this Teflon car wax, or polymer sealant?

Once again, Teflon car wax is simply a brand name of polymer technology. There are many brands of this sealant available on the market today, and any of them can be applied by a person as it is applied in the same way you would apply a liquid wax. The reason polymer sealant is much more durable than that of traditional wax products is the strength of the bonds created at the molecular level within the polymer technology.

I have heard the same thing but have no way to verify this myself doubt anyone else could either. There are many companies that have applied this technology to their brand of product, and in an attempt to elevate it to a higher level, insist that in order for it to work, it must be applied to their trained professionals only. These same companies also sell there product through car dealerships who apply enormous mark-ups on this product and service to unsuspecting people. The claim is made that once this "paint protection system" has been applied, they will not need to wax their car forever; or at least anywhere from a year to five years depending on how much you pay. This is simply the use of liquid polymers marketed and sold in a way to an ignorant consumer base that puts more money in the manufacturer of this particular product, and the car dealership up-selling this to their customers.

I have been a big fan of polymer based sealants for over twenty years. I use these products as often as I can as I know first hand it works! If you accept the science behind polymers, it is merely a matter of picking the brand you trust and are comfortable using. This is why I recommend the products I do as I trust the products put out by these companies. Past that, you simply need to pick which version of this polymer technology that serves your purposes; liquid, paste, or spray. I am of the opinion that the liquid offers the best in durability and protection. Since I like being able to apply this level of protection to dark colored cars, I need a product that will create the depth of a paste wax, so I then use the paste wax version of this technology and this is why I recommend he Meguiar's Ultimate Paste wax over in the column to the right. All these products can be applied by hand or polisher.
